Gary Banham has just joined Hamworthy as area sales manager.

With its recent additions, Hamworthy Heating’s sales team has already grown considerably to cover all areas in the UK, especially in London where demand is highest. Gary Banham is the newest sales manager with 20 years’ experience in the sector to join the commercial boiler manufacturer.

Starting his career in 1998 working for Pipe Center in the warehouse, Gary’s interest in building equipment soon moved him to the internal sales team where he discovered his passion for customer service and technical sales.

Moving to Hydrotec (UK) in 2000 he became an expert for scale and bacteria control solutions in a sales and subsequently service engineer capacity. This hands-on, solution-focused approach led him to work for Hydrotec (UK). The experience gained allowed Gary to adopt key specification roles within the London and the South East supporting some of the UK’s largest design and build contractors. Furthermore, Gary has also been involved with the training and mentoring of new staff within the water treatment industry.

During his career, he had the opportunity to bring his technical and industry knowledge to Goodwater Ltd, covering the South East of England in a specification and contractor sales capacity. With a passion for working with young engineers and passing on the knowledge gathered during his time as an engineer, he was actively involved with the Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) and the CIBSE Young Engineers Network (YEN) where he made a name for himself as a water hygiene expert.

Gary added,

“I really enjoy working with young engineers as I see them as the future of our industry. They know about the importance of water treatment, have a sustainable approach to projects and love taking on knowledge.”

From 2015 to 2018, before joining Hamworthy, he specified and sold ventilation solutions for Nuaire to mostly mechanical design engineers. It was an opportunity for him to get familiar with new and exciting products and clients. With a special interest in ErP and regulations, he also held CPD seminars to educate on their impact and relevance in terms of energy savings.

About joining Hamworthy as area sales manager, he commented,

“Hamworthy has always been that company in the industry you would want to be part of. Being an old business with roots and a British manufacturing background, I feel it is one that engineers seek comfort in.”
