Drayton Manor Hotel, Staffordshire

The 150-bedroom hotel is the perfect getaway for families visiting the award-winning Drayton Manor Theme Park, located in Staffordshire. The hotel has 11 themed Thomas & Friends™ rooms, a restaurant, brasserie and two bars, as well as extensive, state-of-the art conference facilities.

With a strong track record in the leisure sector, Hamworthy’s products were specified for the project by The Engineering Practice, which described the gas fired condensing water heaters and high efficiency steel boilers from the leading manufacturer, as “the perfect match for the development”.

Kevin Edge from The Engineering Practice, who was involved with the project from the outset, said:

Accompanied by two of Hamworthy’s Powerstock 400 hot water calorifiers, the water heaters and steel boilers are predicted to maintain low running costs and ensure the overall environmental performance of the hotel is kept consistent.

Hamworthy’s Dorchester range of condensing water heaters are a practical and efficient means of producing domestic hot water for a wide range of commercial water heating applications. The range brings with it even higher outputs, significant performance improvements and seasonal efficiencies up to 107 per cent nett for commercial water heating applications.

Equipped with a modulating pre-mix burner, performance of the Dorchester DR-FC Evo is achieved with overall noise levels below 45dBA, providing exceptionally quiet operation. Coupled with being designed to operate as open flue or room sealed, the DR-FC Evo is particularly suited to installations, such as the hotel, where the heaters with outputs of 1929 l/h need to be located close to the point of use without disturbance. The Ensbury LT fully modulated natural gas boilers installed at the hotel deliver outputs of 370kW each and feature a three-pass heat exchanger, which has been designed to reduce the level of NOx. With a range of low NOx matched burners the boilers achieve up to European Class 5 performance.

Providing operating efficiencies up to 95 per cent nett (86 per cent gross) at part load and enabling return water temperature to reach as low as 15°C without condensing, and with no minimum flow rate, the steel boilers provide great versatility in systems applications.
