Cashback for ‘cleaner heat’ The Cleaner Heat Cashback Scheme launched in July. Not a snappy name, (personally, I preferred the original commercial boiler scrappage scheme as it says what it is!) but none the less this is what we have been waiting for. It’s only a £10m pot available for replacing old, inefficient boilers and I think it will run out quickly. Read more about the eligibility for the funding on pages 8-9 . Why not get in touch with us to become an approved installer for the scheme? A Hamworthy solution for every type of building Quite a statement to make, I know. But it is something we truly believe in and why we have such a diverse product range. It makes the portfolio more difficult to manage but means we can offer unbiased advice and help you find the right fitting boiler or water heating product for each project. Danny Bulch, Director of Cedar Green, is a regular customer of ours and I have met him through many projects he has worked on. It’s great to see someone take such pride in their work and reminds us of how important long-term working relationships are. He knows our product range and understands the benefits of choosing the right equipment for the right plant room. You can hear about why he selected different Hamworthy boilers and water heaters for the various plant rooms at his latest installations at the Hallmark Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon. Read about the challenges of upgrading boilers whilst maintaining a continuous supply of heating and hot water on pages 6-7 . Embrace the logic It was interesting to hear the thoughts from Elaine Lancaster, Chief Technical Officer for our parent company Groupe Atlantic UK & ROI. We know our industry has some challenges in recruiting women as well as young people. She will make a great advocate for this during her year as president for the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA). I particularly like her advice for people wanting to get in the industry, take a look at pages 10-11 and hopefully we can all work together to keep the sector attractive to all people! A balancing act to overcome risks in hot water generation Our trade association ICOM Energy (part of the EUA) recognised the need for a joined-up approach to hot water system design and maintenance. Using the expertise of its diverse members (boiler manufacturers, hot water equipment suppliers and water treatment organisations), they have created a ‘Water Quality Consideration of Domestic Hot Water Systems for Commercial Applications Guide’. We explore this topic on pages 4-5 and explain how you can strike a balance to overcome the risks in designing commercial hot water systems.
