Hamworthy Heating on Poole Quay

We’re proud of our strong reputation in the commercial heating and hot water market. And rightly so.
We’re old enough to get a card from the Queen.

In 2014 we celebrated the centenary of our founding company, Hamworthy Engineering. With such a long and successful history of UK manufacturing, it was definitely worthy of a bit of a get together.

A history of innovation
Hamworthy Engineering was founded by Percy & Sidney Hall in 1914. Back then it was based on Poole Quay. We’re still in Poole, but moved to bigger premises in 1953 with more room for our manufacturing base and R&D centre.

In the 1960s we introduced modular boilers to the UK. This concept is now used by over 80% of commercial boiler installations.
Since then, we’ve continued to innovate. Our newest development, the Upton boiler range, can deliver 1MW of output from 1m² footprint. We also have the only ErP compliant cast iron condensing boiler in the UK.

European knowledge and experience
Hamworthy Engineering split into specialist divisions several years ago and we’ve been part of Groupe Atlantic since 2008. Having close links with a European leader in the heating and hot water industry certainly helps us keep abreast of legislation which affects us in the UK. The Energy related Products directive, (ErP), is one example of European legislation that has an impact in our industry.

UK expertise
In buildings of all shapes and sizes, up and down the country, you’ll find Hamworthy heating systems at work. To name but a few, you’ll find us at Cheltenham Racecourse, Aston Villa football club, St John’s Catholic Cathedral and Drayton Manor Hotel in Staffordshire.
