Jason Fretwell heads up Hamworthy sales team

Hamworthy has recently welcomed Jason Fretwell, who spent the last thirteen years at A.O. Smith, to oversee the sales team as sales director. Jason joins with almost 30 years of experience in the sector.

Jason started out early in his career in the HVAC sector. In 1989, he made his debut as pipefitter/welder apprentice, progressing to building services contractor at Woodward & Co Ltd.

He gained his first sales experience as sales engineer at Controls Center – part of the Wolseley Group – where he got to grips with selling HVAC controls to industrial process plant and building services professionals. While Jason started out covering the Sheffield branch, he soon made a name for himself and looked after two further branches.

Moving on to the newly established Warrens Ltd in 1999, he not only sold tubes, valves & fittings, negotiated prices and deals with suppliers but also dipped into event management of team activities.

After getting to know deaeration products and successfully setting up distribution outlets for Fabricated Products UK where he also dealt with Hamworthy, he joined A.O. Smith/Adveco. Working for the company for the last thirteen years, Jason deepened his knowledge about water heaters, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and commercial heating systems.

Highly relevant to his new role, Jason managed and coached the external and internal sales teams where he also looked after Bob Smith who has only recently joined Hamworthy, too. Jason’s understanding of customer needs also benefited him in terms of getting involved in product development.

Due to his expertise in hot water, he is also a member of the Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) where he sits on the Industrial Associates Committee. An in-depth knowledge of a wide range of heating equipment and his team building and management experience were a winning combination for the Hamworthy family.

Darren Finley, managing director for Groupe Atlantic UK commercial products who looks after Hamworthy as part of Groupe’s brands, said,

“Jason makes a great addition to our team and we’re pleased to have him on board. Thanks to his experience, we’re confident in his ability to help future growth and maintain the ethos of the Hamworthy brand. Managing and coaching a sales team requires a whole different range of skills which he has already proven in previous roles.”

Jason commented on his new role,

“I’ve worked with all kinds of HVAC equipment over the years and I’m excited to be working with Hamworthy’s exceptionally large product range. Looking after a new team is always a welcome challenge, but I can bring in experience from previous roles. People working here are passionate about the products and the technical knowledge held within the team is something to be proud of. That’s another reason why I was keen on joining: Not only selling products but the prospect of Hamworthy offering added value services such as CPD seminars, site surveys, and product training.”
