Staff from Hamworthy donating books to a local charity

7th March marked World Book Day. For this occasion, the Hamworthy CSR team organised a book sale fundraiser.

Everybody has books at home that have already (or not) been read (yet). So, why not exchange them? This was the thinking behind Hamworthy’s book sale for World Book Day which was held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £19. All types of book genres were covered, including one about fonts for the design aficionados.

Launched in March, Hamworthy also holds monthly collections to donate items to various charities. For this reason, staff took four boxes of books leftover from this day to the local Oakdale Resident Community Association (ORCA)which organises events and activities for people in the area.

Team members have also been encouraged to collect their unrecyclable plastic to fill plastic bottles to make Ecobricks which will be donated to and used by local schools to build things.

While there is an ongoing collection for Hamworthy’s local foodbank in Corfe Mullen, staff will also bring in (unused and used) cosmetics and toiletries for Ellie’s Fund – a brain tumour research and support charity, CDs for ORCA, DVDs for Michael House – a homeless hostel with a vision to help anyone who is vulnerable and jigsaws for the WWF, Girlguiding and the Space Youth Project over the next months.

All funds raised can make a real difference. An example of this was Hamworthy’s joint fundraising efforts in 2018 as part of the Groupe Atlantic UK brands which have raised over £38k for charity.
