Hamworthy Heating has supplied Basford Hall College with a Warmwell High Efficiency Condensing boiler for use as a training aid on heating and ventilation courses.
The new boiler replaced an outdated piece of equipment and was installed, connected, tested and commissioned by students working towards NVQ and City and Guilds qualifications on industrial and commercial heating courses.
"This provides students with an excellent piece of equipment vital for hands-on experience," said John Wilcock, Head of Heating and Ventilation Department. "A number of courses will be able to fully utilise the boiler for pipework assembly training and also develop critical service and maintenance skills."
Basford Hall College was established in 1969 and is the largest construction and building services college in the East Midlands. It is positioned as a centre of excellence for vocational courses including construction and building services, child and community care, business studies and information technology.
Steve Bratcher, managing director of Hamworthy Heating, said: "We are delighted that the boiler meets the needs of the students. We wish everyone success for the future and look forward to welcoming them into the industry."
Based on the successful high efficiency Purewell boiler the Warmwell-HE is Hamworthys modular condensing boiler, which has an additional heat exchanger to extract heat normally lost through the flue. An important feature is the aluminium condensing section with copper construction on the waterside. Aluminium is resistant to flue gas corrosion and copper on the waterside means no special water treatment is required.
When operating on a 400C return the recovery of waste heat reduces the flue gas outlet temperature from the boiler to 800 C compared with 2500 C on conventional boilers. The Warmwell boiler can achieve efficiencies up to 93% gross (103% nett) saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.
