Hamworthy Heating has supplied High efficiency modular condensing boilers for Alwyne Freeman Court, a retirement home near Coventry.
Hamworthy Purewell and Warmwell fully automatic boilers were approved by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council as part of the home’s refurbishment programme. The complex in Keresley houses pensioners in self-catering flats, bedsits and bungalows. Around-the-clock care requires reliable, 24 hour heating to ensure the buildings remain at a comfortable temperature, day and night.
Beaver Building Engineering Services of Birmingham specified and installed two Purewell 80kW modular boilers and one Warmwell condensing 140kW boiler. These were installed with a Portland pressurisation unit, fitted with a 2.8 bar single pump and AF 300 V expansion vessel.
The best-selling Purewell boiler has a unique horizontal flow heat exchanger and a radiant baffle to reduce heat losses and ensure high efficiency performance. Its simple, cast-iron build means it is reliable and easy to maintain.
The Hamworthy Warmwell HE gas fired modular condensing boiler shares many common features with the Purewell and offers enhanced efficiency through the addition of a secondary heat exchanger.
The condenser, made from a combination of aluminium and copper, is mounted on top of the primary heat exchanger to extract more heat from the flue gases. The composite construction eliminates the corrosion common in aluminium heat exchangers and saves on running costs with no special water treatment necessary.
The Warmwell offers outstanding levels of efficiency: 93 per cent gross and is ideal for this type of installation where background heating is required throughout the year. The Warmwell performs as a high efficiency boiler during the heavy load winter months and operates in condensing mode, offering ultra high efficiency, during the seasonal off-peak load periods.
The cast iron primary heat exchanger used in both the Purewell and Warmwell boilers is tolerant to low water return temperatures, down to 30°C, which allows weather compensation directly on the boiler through an optional boiler mounted control system.
